About My Clients
Supporting client who have experienced trauma, the loss of a loved one, and/or found it difficult adjusting to stressors and life transitions has been impactful for me. Most recently, I have assisted children impacted by the incarceration of a loved one by providing therapy and working collaboratively with families to improve communication and leverage existing resources to improve family functioning. Also, I have experience with neurodivergent individuals, aiding self-advocacy and ADL's.
My Background and Approach
Prior to becoming a therapist, I spent over a decade providing recreational group drumming programming to various populations including children, individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities, and the aging. These experiences inform my clinical approach which is to create an empowering and safe therapeutic environment, remain focused on an individual's unique strengths, and integrate talk therapy with a variety of other methods including mindfulness and different somatic approaches, and music, drumming, and other artistic mediums. I believe in the resiliency of individuals to overcome stressors and draw from family systems theory, narrative therapy, and skills-based approaches to help empower clients to find solutions.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I am passionate about supporting those affected by the loss of a loved one, and I have been involved in providing group therapy to those experiencing grief as a member of the clinical team at Experience Camps for Grieving Children, and as a co-facilitator of grief-support groups in coordination with Dwellness partner, Sparrow in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. I completed research on the use of group drumming as an intervention for those experiencing grief, research that I hope to continue and expand on in the future. In addition to providing therapy, I still enjoys performing music. I live in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, and enjoy spending time outdoors, and cooking.
