About My Clients
Are you feeling sad a lot, or anxious? Struggling with what to do next? Do you put on a bright face, in spite of feeling like crying on the inside? Maybe others don't know about your sad or anxious feelings, because appearing strong is important to you. They look to you to hold things together. I create a safe place, we can talk about anything; it's OK. You may have had a nagging unhappiness for a long time. Finding emotional health/balance; together we'll figure it out. You're a priority.
My Background and Approach
Let's talk about what is really happening. We live in a culture that assumes we always "do" for others. I am passionate about helping women find emotional physical/health, balance, and loving relationships. Having help along the way makes a big difference. We will start with what is "Most Immediate" and work from there. It is the counselor-client relationship that makes a big difference, even more than helpful information. Change is always hard, I have wonderful resources, and want to share these with you! I teach mindfulness and breathing practices when it is helpful. I use the Enneagram when helpful (9 personality types - for something so ancient, it is surprisingly practical). I started eating healthy about 4 years ago and have lost 145 lbs; I understand junk food/sugar addiction, and love to help clients with a change in lifestyle for weight loss. I am a clinically licensed counselor with 15 years experience (Illinois). I believe in the healing power of nature/woods/prairies.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I am feminist, and have enjoyed working with women for decades. I practice with a Buddhist community weekly, and work with Christians in the church, as well. I teach the Enneagram to groups for growth and enlightenment. I have grown children and grandchildren.
