My Background and Approach
I am a board-certified licensed professional counselor who works with individuals who struggle with substance use, anxiety, depression, and PTSD, as well as couples who are struggling with relationship issues. I studied at Western Carolina University, where I obtained a master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. I am passionate about providing a safe and non-judgmental space for clients to explore their thoughts and feelings, so that they are able to achieve their life goals. In my counseling sessions, I utilize a evidence-based holistic approach which incorporates a variety of therapeutic modalities, including Acceptance Commitment Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Solution-Focused Therapy, depending on which approaches best fulfill the needs of the individual or couple. I am constantly inspired by the strength and resilience of my clients and I trust that, with perseverance, they can overcome any challenge that they face.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I feel passionately that each person is worthy of great respect. I believe that each person deserves to live a beautiful, fulfilling life, offering their unique gifts, talents, and presence to the world. I believe that each person has tremendous love and wisdom that exists within their heart, but that sometimes that light is unable to shine brightly, due to unhelpful choices that they have made in their lives. I believe that each person has the ability to learn new, healthier ways of living that bring a greater sense of meaning and joy to their life. I believe that connection is at the heart of all substantial transformation - connecting deeply with ourselves, our spirituality, and others. I believe that personal wellbeing and growth is one of the most important endeavors a person can undertake.
