About My Clients
Do you feel dissatisfied with how you relate to others or to yourself? Are you unsure of how to break out of a behavioral, emotional, or cognitive loop? I help my clients to better listen to themselves and their emotions to be able to make intentional choices that align with their values. I provide skills for emotional regulation so that my clients can feel more balanced and agentic.
My Background and Approach
I use a systemic framework and so consider the relational, environmental, societal, and cultural contexts that surround my clients. On an individual level, I believe that emotion plays a fundamental role in the difficulties people face. I help my clients to identify their emotions, manage them, communicate them effectively, and use them to guide adaptive action. Although I pay particular attention to emotion, I also include intervention in the realms of thought, behavior, and body for a holistic approach. I commonly draw on techniques from cognitive-behavioral therapy, internal family systems therapy, and mindfulness. I am experienced in working with mood disorders, trauma, relationship issues, sexual/gender identity exploration, alternative relationship structures, sexual functioning, and life transitions. I have special interest in working with couples or individuals seeking sex therapy and with LGBTQ+ clients.
