About My Clients
I enjoy clients who want to work to improve their lives. We will work to develop goals, in a nonjudgmental environment. Bringing different perspectives will help each of us contribute to your overall life goals and achieve both short and long-term goals that are developed.
My Background and Approach
I used to be a correctional officer. I worked in several different types of county, federal, and state agencies. I saw how both men and women residents were being communicated with. I also saw the cruel nature of people with power. The long work hours made me want to help people more. My direct nature has always been there, but I grew to love talking to people in a county jail. Learning how to communicate with people is an art, and consistently having to come up with things on the spot was something that helped me want to create these spaces for people. I create this by giving people the freedom to explore what they want to do with me. This helps them create the path they are going to have to walk. I have a cognitive behavior therapy (CBT) approach that includes solutions-focused behavioral therapy (less than 6 sessions) for short-term sessions. For longer-term sessions (more than 6 sessions), I use a combination of dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT) and CBT approaches.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe everyone has has their own frame of reference. They bring their own uniqe since of happiness and understanding. When we bring together our experiences, something is born that would not have been created otherwise. We are the product of all the people, experiences and personalities we come into contact daily. I bring my own beliefs that everyone seeks to be happy and will do everything they can to seek what they believe will make them the happiest on a daily basis. I am an active member of my community, love to see new perspectives and understandings.
