About My Clients

Most of the people I work with say that their work with me is their first time conceptualizing their concerns as a mental health issue and are seeking treatment for the first time. The folks that I typically see come from diverse backgrounds age 16 and older. Because of my specialized experience in the eating disorder field, many of them are working through issues related to binge eating or other related issues. Clients may also come in with co-occurring issues of mood or anxiety disorders.

My Background and Approach

I began my work with eating disorders facilitating group therapy in Omaha at an eating disorder treatment center. I continued on as therapist and then supervising the program. It is here where my love for working with those with binge eating behaviors grew; approximately half of my caseload was with folks seeking to eliminate binge eating behaviors. I received training in Enhanced Cognitive Behavior Therapy at the Centre for Research on Eating Disorders at Oxford. Since that time, I have gone on to direct several programs across the country, but my love for working with patients and the Midwest eventually won and I have returned to the area to provide support for those with an eating, mood or eating disorder. The approach that I take balances helping patients create structure in their life and validating and supporting them through empathic listening. I specialize in Enhanced Cognitive Behavior Therapy and Dialetical Behavior Therapy.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I value competence, equity, collaboration and dignity, and it shows in my approach with clients. I strongly belief in providing evidenced-based care, and work to collaborate with other providers and loved ones in your circle.
