About My Clients
Our child clients are typically struggling with social or emotional skills, self-esteem, anxiety or fears/phobias. My adult clients are working through life transitions, perinatal trauma and mood disorders, career/academic challenges, stress reduction, parenting challenges or interpersonal relationship difficulties.
My Background and Approach
LightHaven providers have an eclectic background and believe in approaching therapy from an eclectic perspective. What does this mean? This means we use a variety of techniques from a variety of modalities that fit each client for their needs in that moment, versus trying to make a client fit into one particular modality. When working with children, we typically use the integration of Play Therapy, Sand Tray Therapy, Animal Assisted Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, FirstPlay, TheraPlay and Gestalt Therapy. When working with adults we integrate Solution Focused Brief Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Child Parent Psychotherapy, Narrative Therapy, Humanistic Therapy, Nature Therapy and traditional Talk Therapy.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
We feel strongly that all children can thrive mentally when a therapist takes into consideration their developmental progress and can thrive developmentally when their mental health is also an important factor. For adults, we believe that we all struggle at different times in our lives. Having a trusted professional to talk to can alleviate unnecessary life stressors and help build healthy coping skills for when life gets hard. Our hope is that our clients will walk away from therapy feeling supported, cared for, and ready to face life's changes.
