About My Clients
I best serve clients 30 or older seeking treatment for depression, anxiety, trauma, PTSD, stress management, grief and loss and adjustment to life changes. I provide individual and couple's therapy with occasional groups available as well.
My Background and Approach
I specialize in trauma and PTSD in adults as I am Level 2 trained in Brainspotting. I find mind-body approaches to be the most effective and beneficial for clients. I utilize and am trained in Mindfulness and somatic exercises. I find relational therapy such as Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy to be very beneficial for clients who hsve experienced trauma especially within relationships during their childhood and teen years. I will implement talk therapy such as CBT, Motivational Interviewing, Client Centered as well. When seeing clients in person I often integrate Animal Assisted Therapy and Art Therapy with client's permission.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I am a strong advocate for animal welfare and see how stray animals and those raised or living in poor conditions and who experience maltreatment are part of a larger public health crisis. I' aware of the high suicide rate among veterinarians and the high rate of burnout amongst the animal rescues and shelter staff. I have a part time dog training business and volunteer with the only animal resource in our county. Our organization is designed to keep pets in their home safely with their families who love them when appropriate to do so rather than cranking pets in to an already over burdened shelter/rescue system. I assistwith fundraisers, events, and in evaluating dogs needing to be networked for rescue/shelter placement regarding behavioral needs and temperment. I'm also a strong advocate for Animal Assisted Therapy and Service Dogs for those in need.
