About My Clients
I support motivated & conscientious professionals who seem to have it together on the outside but are struggling on the inside. You're frustrated that you can't feel better, despite your self-awareness. I use my expertise in insight-oriented & sex therapy to help you understand the roots of your problems, and I offer tailored, sophisticated perspectives to help you develop the emotional & psychological musculature to face life.
My Background and Approach
Many clients come to me having already made several attempts at therapy. In previous treatments, they learned helpful tools for coping with their immediate problems, and even began to identify self-defeating patterns in their life. Yet they feel their work did not go far enough to explore the roots of their problems. Often, they are frustrated with themselves for their inability to change despite ‘knowing better.’ In sessions, we go deeper to explore emotions (especially contradictory, troubling emotions) and allow them to surface in a healthy way, examine avoidance tactics and mental defenses (like binge eating, drinking, scrolling uncontrollably, overworking, isolating or overthinking), look keenly at what is driving painful patterns (including traumas, unconscious desires, and fantasies) , understand the familial and environmental contexts that shaped them into who they are today.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Long before I was a therapist, I was a client. In fact, I'm still a client. To me, therapy is part of what it means to live an examined life. Not only have I had transformational experiences sitting on the other side of the therapy room, I have a visceral sense of what it means to be a client; how hard it is to make the first call, to wonder what's 'appropriate' to say or to worry about being judged. And I've experienced, in awe, how much one can do with their life when they are finally able to think clearly.
