Accepting Clients

Hi! I am a somatic (body based) psychodynamic (memory and relationship based) and mindfulness (thinking patterns based) therapist.

Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Seattle, WA

About My Clients

I work with individuals who want to improve their behavior and relationship patterns, are struggling with painful or intrusive thoughts, and/or sense that there is something inside them going unexpressed. I also enjoy working with burnout and people who live with low self-regard or self-hatred. We will unravel any stories that cast you as small, unworthy, or incapable as we sit in respectful, nonjudgmental, open attentiveness to your life experiences & what you would like to change.

My Background and Approach

I chose therapist training in clinical social work because it focuses on a person within their context. I believe the influence of what happens due to the context we’re in cannot be understated. What that means is that I believe mental health problems exist because of an intersection of factors and cannot be understood in isolation. Culturally and professionally I was taught to be caring but firm. I am frequently told I have a warm, gentle demeanor, but also that people appreciate when I tell them directly what I am thinking. I can see anyone virtually who lives in WA state and have an office for in person work in the south end of Seattle, WA. I currently don't take insurance but can provide a superbill for your out of network benefits. I am in the process of getting contracted with Premera & BCBS. I offer reduced rates but please note my reduced rate spots are currently full. I am a queer, non binary therapist and have been rooted in that community since 2006.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

First of all, I believe we all have an interiority that plays an enormous role in our life experiences and is often neglected by society. We are often taught not to listen to our interiority. It is the voice that tells us what we want and need, and lives closely next to our self-love. Truly, some of the therapeutic experience is a fight for our interior wellness & who we could be. I ask people about somatic experiences because I believe sensation and emotion show up fundamentally intertwined. I ask about childhood because I believe that is when we learn to be human, because we have influences that shape us while we are developing. I lead clients in breath exercises and visualization because I believe those can teach what it is like to feel calm. Socially, I think we live in profoundly intolerable conditions and believe in nothing less than a global scale fundamental transformation of society based on the values of equity, justice, human dignity and interdependence.
