If you experience emotionally overwhelming moments with unwanted and uncontrollable reactions to everyday events, then you may be experiencing implicit emotional memories from past trauma. These emotions typically occur outisde our conscious awareness, so we can not control them through our minds. I begin by helping you regulate your body/breath systems to enable present mindful awareness, then focus on those patterns of problematic reactions in order to identify needed change.
My Background and Approach
In ten years of practicing and also training yoga therapy, I have advanced skills to help stabilize your nervous system and mindfully notice your moment-by-moment experiences - inside and out. Through this process, you learn these skills of self-regulation to practice in your everyday life as trauma reactions are triggered. You also learn to achieve a state of dual awareness (a.k.a., mindfulness) which will allow processing your trauma triggers without the need to narrate the details of those events and risk worsening your symptoms through re-traumatization. We move at your pace, whatever that needs to be to remain on the safe side of your edges of "ok" and keep you in a present moment perspective that will allow learning and change to happen.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe we all have the capacity to heal our own trauma wounds when supported by safe, supportive, non-judgmental, and warmly attentive guidance combined with well-informed, trained and evidence-based skills.
