About My Clients
I work with adults who feel anxious, burnt out, or stuck in people-pleasing patterns. Many of my clients are neurodiverse or queer-identifying and have spent years masking or feeling “not enough.” They’re ready to heal from trauma, set boundaries, and reconnect with their authentic selves. Together, we create a safe, affirming space for calm, clarity, and confidence to grow.
My Background and Approach
I’m Betsy Gilpin, LCPC, LCMHC, a trauma therapist and founder of Liberated Life Counseling. My background includes extensive training in Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) — evidence-based methods proven to help clients heal from trauma, anxiety, and burnout without reliving painful memories. My approach is trauma-informed, neurodiversity-affirming, and queer-affirming, grounded in compassion, authenticity, and collaboration. I believe healing happens when you feel safe, seen, and empowered to show up as your full self. In our work together, I integrate mind-body awareness, evidence-based interventions, and space for self-discovery to help you release old patterns and reconnect with who you truly are. I offer virtual therapy for adults in Illinois and North Carolina and in-person therapy and intensives in Holly Springs, NC for deeper, focused healing.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that healing is both personal and collective — that when we reclaim our voice, authenticity, and worth, we contribute to a more compassionate world. My work is rooted in the values of authenticity, curiosity, equity, and liberation. I strive to create spaces where people can unmask, be seen fully, and heal without judgment or pressure to conform. I’m deeply committed to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging, and to dismantling the stigma and systems that keep people from accessing care. I value the resilience of the neurodiverse, LGBTQ+, and trauma survivor communities and aim to provide therapy that honors those identities and lived experiences. Outside of therapy, I’m passionate about advocating for mental health access, social justice, and community connection, believing that real healing extends beyond the therapy room.
