About My Clients
I work well with people who seek relationships, connection and a touch of humor in therapy. I believe that the client and therapist relationship is important and value a client centered and relational approach. I enjoy working with those in the LGBTQ+ communities, those who have been adopted, highly sensitive individuals and really anyone who is working on issues of identity and finding oneself. I also enjoy and have vast experience in working with mood disorders such as depression and anxiety.
My Background and Approach
I hold a masters degree in Social Work from the University of North Dakota. I have spent my career providing therapy services in homes, school settings as well as traditional office therapy. I have also worked in the child welfare system. I use a trauma informed approach in my work. I utilize somatic approaches to treat trauma and truly believe in a mind and body connection. I also use approaches of polyvagal theory, cognitive behavioral therapy and mindfulness in treatment. I provide clients with a safe environment to engage, process and work to explore concerns and find their true authentic self.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
We are in unprecedented times in our lives. We might feel stuck and that traditional ways we have used to relieve stress are no longer working. You might feel you need a place you feel like you are understood. I often have felt that many traditional avenues of healing haven't worked for me and that I don't feel understood or that I belong. I am an active member of the LGBTQ+ community and really strive to offer a non judgmental and accepting space that I know I often didn't feel like I had. Through my own exploration of self, I have discovered that life is a lot more freeing and fun and I really hope to pass that along to other people. I love podcasts, dyeing my hair ( in fact you might see it in several different colors throughout our work together), and I truly just believe that everyone deserves their own love, compassion and space to be uniquely and authentically you.
