About My Clients
Often my clients find themselves reaching for the phone (or booking an online appointment) when they are in a crisis, or at a particularly difficult period in their lives. Things are just not working out the way they used to and it's frustrating and maybe even scary. You are eager to vent, solve you problems, learn, grow, with the ultimate goal of finding balance and homeostasis again, but now with better insight, coping tools, and ability to effectively communicate your boundaries and values.
My Background and Approach
I accompany my clients through mental health and relationship challenges using techniques from CBT, ACT, and mindfulness to help clients attain psychological resiliency. We work on relationships, identity, stressors, life goals, depression, anxiety, bipolar, parenting, grief, trauma, and skill-building for effective communication and healthy boundaries. You can expect to be challenged in therapy (we can do hard things), but also expect to come to therapy for a weekly dose of kindness, calm, even humor, and always affirmation, no matter who you are or where you come from. I love to learn about each client’s unique identity, culture and family of origin, in order to provide culturally-competent, strength-based, and compassionate care.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that therapy is for everyone. It used to be considered taboo, or offered only for people who had significant mental health issues, or for people who had the resources/means. These days, it's much more common, even rare to find someone who hasn't tried out therapy once or twice. Which is excellent news, given the anxiety-provoking world we currently live in. I believe anyone can benefit from having a non-judgmental ear that is all yours, and anyone can develop themselves and their personal insights and coping skills for better functioning, healthier relationships and self-esteem.
