About My Clients
Are you lost in a world that is upside down because you just lost that which you loved? Are you wondering if you will ever be able to fully feel joy again? Are you finding that you are having more losses related to your primary loss? And are you finding it hard to talk to friends and family because they simply feel you should be over this by now? Well, you my dear, are stuck in the messy world of grief. You don't have to do this on your own, let me be your grief guide/coach.
My Background and Approach
I have been honing my therapeutic skills and crafting an out of the box way of working with grief in order to provide you what you need during a very confusing time. I've been a body-centered and art therapy based psychotherapist for the past 23 years. My work is informed by my an unexpected apprenticeship to grief. In 2012 my life partner crashed on his mountain bike resulting in a broken neck and lifelong quadriplegia. We lost so much. So my work is infused by my own reconciliation process of grief. I walked part of the Camino and dove into doing West African grief rituals, calling on the world of nature and the creative arts in order to keep my grief moving. When you work with me, I will be focused on crafting a plan that is tailored to who you are and what you need in order to befriend your grief and live a good life again. I will give you tools to use for your body, mind, emotions, and your spirit. This is soul work infused by Spirit.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that the world needs to learn how to grieve now more than ever. We need to learn how to process many layers of grief-personal, ancestral, generational, and collective. I'm deeply passionate about normalizing grief and helping you to simply befriend it. When we do this we have access to more life energy and joy-we have more access to our birthright. I'm a body geek; I value learning all I can about how best to be in this mental/emotional/physical/spiritual body. I love teaching tips and tricks to help you have an easier embodied experience. I value the natural world and call myself an animist-everything is alive. I have relationships with the trees, trails, waters, and mountains near me. I value my ancestors from Sweden & Germany. I'm learning more from them so I can better understand myself and my grief. I also value my relationship to Spirit and strive to bring the spiritual into my daily life and my work with clients. I am grateful for the Shamanic path and all my teachers.
