About My Clients
You've left the relationship, but you still can't escape the way it made you feel. The memories show up unbidden, you find yourself repeating in your head the awful things your partner used to say to you. You can't sleep, you feel on edge, you don't feel safe in your own body. Together we can work to help you to put the past behind you, to understand how those experiences affected you, to recreate your own sense of safety, and to find your trust and belief in yourself.
My Background and Approach
I am a licensed clinical social worker with over a decade of experience working with women, men, and children who have been harmed by people they love. Many of my clients have survived emotional, physical, or sexual abuse, or all three. I use evidence-based, trauma-informed approaches to help my clients to understand how their past has affected them, reclaim their bodies and minds, learn healthy relationship skills, and find peace and joy in their lives and relationships. I have specialized training to work with families with young children, to help caregivers to support their children's healing after distressing experiences or changes in their families. Child-Parent Psychotherapy, the primary modality I use with children from birth to age six, has been shown to reduce symptoms of trauma in both the caregiver and the child. I will help you to understand how your child was impacted by what your family went through, and help you to support your child to recover and thrive.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that everyone has the capacity to heal. I see my role as a therapist as creating a safe container where you can explore how your experiences have impacted you, and identify your strengths and build capacities to move forward to build stability and safety for yourself. You deserve peace, and I will hold the light of hope for you as together we find a path from a place that is stuck and painful to a life with peace and joy. I have experienced for myself the power of time in nature and of body-based experiences for healing and recovery. I utilize these modalities with clients for whom this also resonates.
