About My Clients
I fit well with people who are here of their own volition, are willing and open to change, and are trying to develop resiliency in life, problem-solving without drama in relationships, and self-respect. I am more interested in your uniqueness than your diagnosis, and I expect a full recovery in treatment. My openness and inclusivity influence my approach to therapy.
My Background and Approach
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Colorado with a Master in Counseling from Grand Canyon University. The issues I work with in therapy are mind-body issues; I do not have a mental illness approach. What is good for the body is good for the brain and vice versa. I try my best to provide a secure space and collaborate. I take notes and read them at the end of the session, and as opposed to homework, I offer experiments to try between conversations. Depending on preference, I can be direct in helping you identify your goals by collaborating on a treatment plan, or non-direct, identifying our goals through the flow of the conversation. A first session begins with a casual greeting and formalities regarding confidentiality, rights, and risk assessment questions, followed by a lead-in question to get the ball rolling. I draw on Humanistic, Person-Centered, Existential, Attachment, Somatic, Trauma, Feminist, Culturally Sensitive, and Cognitive Behavioral approaches.
