About My Clients
I work primarily with individuals 13+ from all walks of life with a variety of issues, specializing in clients struggling with trauma and PTSD. I view therapy as an adaptive, evolving, and collaborative process, and I try to individualize the treatment to the individual, the whole person. I focus on both strengths in addition to problems and strive to create a safe place that is judgment-free, with a foundation of genuineness, empathy, honesty, and unconditional positive regard.
My Background and Approach
In addition to meeting the required criteria to practice professional counseling in Texas and I graduated from a CACREP-accredited program, which meets a high standard of quality. I have been trained in counseling online in evidence-based treatments for psychological trauma. I have a client-focused therapy foundation, using research and evidence-based treatments for my clients, tailored to the client's issues and the client as a person, informed by multicultural and other social issues. My primary theoretical orientation is cognitive-behavioral treatment (CBT), but I incorporate motivational interviewing, and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) as the client's situation calls for it. My approach is trauma-informed, or trauma-focused, depending on the client's needs, and is strength-focused. I treat clients as experts in themselves and life and take a team/collaboration approach in counseling.
