About My Clients
I work with adults, couples, teens, and families facing anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship difficulties, anger, and other challenges. I especially enjoy helping people understand the deeper roots of their struggles rather than simply managing symptoms. My approach integrates professional counseling with a Christian understanding of the person, while respecting each client’s beliefs and goals.
My Background and Approach
My approach focuses on understanding the deeper roots of emotional and relationship struggles, not simply managing symptoms. I draw from evidence-based approaches, including EMDR, while integrating a Christian understanding of the person and the importance of meaning, relationships, and spiritual life. I work collaboratively with clients to understand patterns that may once have helped them cope but now keep them stuck, and to develop healthier ways of responding to life’s challenges.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I am a Christian, though I am competent to work with people of all faiths and beliefs and have studied all of the major religions of the world for years and taught classes on the world religions for 20 plus years. I am a reformed presbyterian and am serious about my religion, but I only talk about matters of faith with clients if that is something that they want as part of their therapy.
