About My Clients
I work with adolescents and adults struggling with eating disorders, disordered eating, body image, and trauma. You may be restricting, bingeing, purging, avoiding foods, compulsively exercising, or consumed by thoughts about food and your body. You may also be carrying experiences from your past that continue to show up in your relationships, emotions, or sense of safety. Often, these struggles overlap. I also work with parents and families to help support their child’s recovery at home.
My Background and Approach
It’s hard to say why an eating disorder develops in one person and not another. Two people can go on the exact same diet—one stops, while for the other, that diet becomes a years-long struggle with food and their body. Eating disorders serve a function. They can create a sense of control, quiet anxiety, numb difficult emotions, or help someone cope with experiences that feel overwhelming. This is also where my work with eating disorders and trauma often intersects. My approach is warm, direct, and collaborative. I want to understand not only what you’re doing, but why it makes sense that you’re doing it. We work on changing the behaviors while also understanding what’s underneath them, so we’re not simply taking away a coping mechanism without helping you build something in its place.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe people make sense in the context of what they’ve lived through, and therapy should make room for both compassion and accountability.
