About My Clients
I work best with ages 6-10, anger, anxiety and giftedness. I love supporting parents and siblings who may need their own skills to help manage daily stress. My clients are treated with special care and we build a strong relationship where they feel trust and support from the first session. Most kids feel overwhelmed and don't have the words or connection to their brain and body. I help them learn about themselves and learn helpful skills to catch their anger or anxiety before it blows up.
My Background and Approach
I have experience working as in school counselor for Orange County Elementary schools. I spent 6.5 years in community mental health as an outpatient therapist for children. I have had my practice in Oviedo for over 11 years serving kids, siblings and parents. I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), relaxation and mindfulness and child centered approaches. I also use play therapy techniques and work hard to build a relationship with my clients and parents. Each child is treated individually and taught several ways to relax, focus and calm down. Some kids are great with words, others draw and some use a mix of communication but need help to find what works for them.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I focus on learning a child's and families world so I can best help them. No 2 children are the same so learning what they need and enjoy is important. Kids these days need to be seen for their strengths as they work on the hard things. Love and discipline work together to give a child support and structure. Each family needs their own tools and skills so I help them find them.
