My Background and Approach
I mainly use Acceptance & Commitment Therapy with my clients, to increase realistic awareness, engaged living, and psychological flexibility and to decrease avoiding, numbing out and missing out on your one precious life. Noticing and allowing feelings, thoughts & behaviors without judging yourself for being a human who has these, practicing self-compassion, and choosing behaviors that connect you with your values - these are the core of ACT and why it makes sense to me, personally and clinically. The context of your experience is SO relevant - whether you meet DSM-5 criteria or not, I believe that ACT can help you FEEL and live engaged, not just feel "better".
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe in empowering people to be who they are and do the things that matter to them. I think that individuals know what they need. I'm a cisgender female, married to an amazing man for 20+ years, with two amazing kids - these people have made me a better human and a better therapist. We have dogs, cats, chickens, horses, lots of projects, a deep love for Marvel, sci-fi & adventure stories, good meals, good laughs, and good sleep.
