About My Clients
I helped design & implement 14 hospital and clinic interdisciplinary programs in the last 25 years. These programs helped patients suffering with problems of insomnia, anxiety, depression, stress management, cardiac and G.I. disorders, drug/alcohol dependency problems, and severe chronic pain. In my private practice, I have had the privilege of working with young children, married couples, gay couples, under served inner city residents, celebrities, executives and everyday working people.
My Background and Approach
Why Psychology? I am not sure of the exact time when I decided to become a psychologist. In the neighborhood where I grew up, the “highly acceptable” options were accountant, doctor or lawyer. As a psychology graduate student, I had the opportunity to participate in biofeedback therapy and stress management, at a large mental health clinic. There they treated patients with a range of issues from children with depression & ADHD, to drug & alcohol addicted individuals, to people of various ages with chronic pain and/or illness. My goal, as a collaborative effort, is to help you enhance emotional resilience, improve communication skills, promote personal growth & navigate life’s challenges with a greater peace of mind. Approach: I offer an environment where mental wellness is accessible, stigma-free, & empowering, to gain trust & provide insight for people seeking change. Other Specialties: Biofeedback, Stress Management, Assertiveness Training, Chronic Pain Mmgt, Personal Coaching.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe in a mind-body approach to helping people. Mindfulness and simple forms of meditation, especially breathing & posture exercises, can be helpful for some individuals. I strongly believe that it is never too late to “train your brain” & develop coping skills to navigate life’s challenges & struggles. My conviction as an experienced therapist: WE ARE ALL A WORK IN PROGRESS!
