Barbara Mucherino Plavnicky is a Licensed Professional Counselor who works with both adolescents and adults.

Barbara has worked with a full spectrum of psychiatric disorders and has worked with clients dealing with substance abuse, anxiety, depression, dissociative identity disorders and, most recently, eating disorders.
Her emphasis is solution focused, utilizing person centered counseling, mindfulness, DBT techniques and coping skills, and CBT.
Barbara has worked with clients dealing with eating disorders (Anorexia, Bulimia, ARFID, OSFED) in a residential and outpatient (PHP, IOP) setting, utilizing DBT and running groups on Body Image, Individual and Family Process Groups and Meals, Distress Tolerance, Emotion Regulation and others.
Barbara will analyze the roots of client depression and assess the needs of the client based on this analysis. Some depression may need to be referred for medication management while attending sessions learning how to deal with this disorder.
Barbara will look at the causes of client anxiety and help clients to manage it. Clients will learn how to distract themselves from anxious feelings and to deal with the emotions surrounding them.
Through ACT clients will learn ways to live a life of value.
Through analysis of authomatic thoughts and implementation of ways of changing these thoughts, clients learn to reject negative core beliefs.
Through use of DBT clients will learn distress tolerance, emotion regulation and self care in dealing with stress.
