About My Clients
Working with clients caught in a web of a toxic or narcissistic patterns is my specialty. I assist clients to review maladaptive coping skills associated with complex trauma. These may show up as an eating disorder, substance abuse, or low self esteem. Helping you incorporate useful tools and skills will help you avoid the troublesome pattern of having to over explain and defend yourself. My hope for you is that no one will have an opportunity to repeatedly disrespect you in the future.
My Background and Approach
Because I am a family therapist, I approach each member as part of the larger family system without blame or criticism. I promote inclusive language from a non judgmental position allowing you to make positive and lasting changes. We will explore the rules, roles and patterns that are toxic to your wellbeing and learn strategies to facilitate your healing process. I utilize EMDR, Accelerated Resolution Therapy, Solution Focused Brief Therapy and CBT, into my practice to bring about positive outcomes. It is possible and productive to attend family or couples therapy as an individual, even if your loved one is not willing to participate. Many of my clients discover they are not alone and they are not crazy! Being in a state of confusion and doubting yourself, makes it hard to make decisions. Together we can be curious and find answers to help you live your best life!
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I value connection and family values demonstrated by showing love, safety and concern to all. At times we need to ask for help. Finding yourself in a toxic or unfilling situation is not your fault. The accompanying guilt, shame and remorse fosters isolation, irritability and loneliness. In this past year, we have seen an increase in domestic violence, drug and alcohol use and suicide. Therapy can provide relief from paralyzing emotional pain and stress. I have experienced pain and suffering in toxic relationships in my own life and strive to use my personal experience and professional skills to best serve your needs.
