About My Clients
I have seen therapy change lives dramatically yet seeking help can often be difficult. My clients are working on self-esteem issues, gender identity, parenting skills, relationships, life transitions, anxiety, depression, suicide ideation and self-harm. It’s hard to trust a therapist with your story and your past. I invite you to take a brave step for yourself and discover your new path.
My Background and Approach
Growth and change happen within a healthy therapeutic relationship where clients feel validated yet challenged. At the core I am a psychodynamic therapist. Our past experiences have played a part in shaping who we are today, but that doesn’t mean we can’t change our story. I incorporate tools from Cognitive Behavioral Therapies, Solution Focused Therapy and Internal Family Systems to help clients make the changes they choose to make. Before becoming a therapist, I spent 13 years in Student Affairs helping college students manage life transitions, discern their path, and develop into healthy adults. My favorite times were hanging out in my residence hall and hearing students’ stories. Every single student I worked with showed me depth, strength, and a uniqueness and I am honored they shared part of themselves with me.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe every person has immense value. Meeting clients where they are and letting them be true to themselves is a keystone of how I work. You are an amazing, complex individual! Living in families and communities, though, can replace that joy with a list of "shoulds." And not being able to live up to them can create all kinds of problems. Sometimes finding that one person who lets you be you is all you need to find the confidence to move forward.
