About My Clients
Holding multiple roles, relationships, identities, and expectations can make it easy to lose sight of yourself and what you need. You may be carrying trauma or burnout, navigating complicated family or relationship dynamics, adjusting to change, or noticing patterns you no longer want to repeat. I especially enjoy working with identity development, neurodivergence, parenting and caregiving, family-of-origin dynamics, and the experiences that come with navigating multiple identities.
My Background and Approach
I came to therapy after more than a decade in another professional career, so I bring both clinical training and plenty of real-world experience into the room. I earned my MA in Counseling Psychology from Texas Woman's University and am currently completing my doctorate in Counseling Psychology. Therapy with me is relational, collaborative, and grounded in getting to know you as a whole person. I'm interested in the patterns you keep finding yourself in, the relationships and experiences that shaped you, and how your family, culture, identities, and the world around you have influenced who you've had to become. We can make sense of where things came from without losing sight of what you need now. I integrate attachment, relational, emotion-focused, multicultural, mindfulness, and trauma-informed approaches based on what fits you. I also incorporate body-based work when helpful because you can understand exactly why you do something and still find that your mind and body haven't
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe our mental health can't be separated from the world we live in. Race, culture, gender, sexuality, neurodivergence, family, community, access, and the systems we navigate can all shape how we understand ourselves and what we've learned we need to do to survive. I'm especially passionate about Black mental health and wellness, racial and cultural identity development, neurodiversity, and creating affirming spaces for people whose identities and experiences haven't always been understood or valued. I approach this work from a place of curiosity and respect for the fact that you are the expert on your own lived experience. I also believe healing doesn't have to be serious every second to be meaningful. Joy, humor, connection, rest, and authenticity matter to me, both personally and in the therapy room. I want therapy to be a place where you can bring your whole self rather than feeling like you have to translate, minimize, or leave parts of yourself at the door.
