Children are full of big feelings and limited ways of expressing themselves, resulting in big challenges for parent, especially as they may trigger our own "sore spots". For 10 years I've been working with children with high behavioral and emotional needs in the group and individual setting. I have a thorough understanding of child development and strategies to assist parents in navigating difficult behaviors, connecting with their child, and attuning to their own experience and feelings.

I have a special interest in Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, and Other Trauma and Stressor Related Disorders. My 10 years of experience have been focused on children and adolescents who have experienced complex trauma. My work has been in both group home and outpatient settings. I believe that PTSD is a normal reaction to abnormal circumstances and hope to assist clients in establishing a sense of safety so they can identify triggers, process their trauma, and set themselves free of their past.

Being person centered means I remain non-judgemental and non-directive, allowing you to bring up what is most important and relevant to YOU.

CBT is a popular orientation because it is heavily researched, and it works! I utilize CBT with my clients to identify automatic patterns of thoughts, feelings and behaviors, and explore when they may have worked, and if they are still working for you. I have used CBT for years to help clients identify the strategies that kept us safe in the past, but work against us in our current situation.
