My Background and Approach
Coming from the field of emergency mental health, substance abuse and crisis intervention, I have learned and taught tools that will help you to live with your mental illness, cope with the difficulties that you face, and become proficient at managing life's stressors and circumstances without becoming debilitatingly anxious and depressed. I aspire to use a strengths-based, trauma-informed, solution-focused, client-centered approach to ensure that your situation is uniquely considered in creating your individualized treatment plan. With over ten (10) years of experience in the field, I have learned that healing comes from within you as we explore treating the whole person with tools like Brainspotting, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Trauma-Focused CBT, EMDR, among others.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
It is my belief that humans have limitless potential for healing, given the right tools and in the right therapeutic relationship and environment. You are built to grow and learn from the difficulties that you face. There is no doubt in my mind that you, as the expert in your life, can work with your therapist, in a mutually understanding and respectful relationship, to bring about change in your life. My outlook is a non-judgmental, safe, supportive one because like you, I have struggled with my own anxieties in life. I know what it is to live every single day with the possibility that symptoms may reappear but this also gives me hope that you can recover and live a fulfilling life because I do. My passions are suicide prevention, military and first responder crisis care, sexual trauma, racial trauma and disparities, PTSD and trauma-focused treatment and domestic violence eradication. I also work toward equality for LGBTQIA+ individuals and provide affirmative care for the community.
