My Background and Approach
I am a trauma-informed, psychodynamic therapist with a heavy focus on attachment styles and inner child work. Each person is unique, so while I have a focus on attachment and inner child work, I consider myself eclectic. When we only focus on the past, we can’t move forward, but when we only focus on the present, we don’t heal. I like to think of it as doing surgery without a bandage, or using a bandage without surgery. Neither would work, so we need to do both. We’ll dive into the past to gain insight and also gain tools to help you in the present, sprinkling in tools from behavioral models such as DBT and CBT.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Re-telling your story empowers you to create a new one. Your experience is important and deserves to be heard and validated. Learning your attachment style can be so helpful to uncover the patterns, struggles, and behaviors that you find yourself in relationally, and personally. These insights can give you the knowledge and thereby power to take control of your own life and make the changes you want. I want to understand you and what you and/or your child wants to gain from therapy. You may not know the answer to that yet, and that’s okay. We’ll talk through it and discover what was pulling you towards wanting to explore more of yourself. The flavor and goal of my approach is to empower you to take your life back.
