My Background and Approach
My counseling journey uniquely blends Eastern and Western perspectives, stemming from my upbringing in India and professional development in the United States. As a counseling intern with a Master's in Healthcare Administration from the University of Washington and extensive experience as a Registered Polysomnography Technician, I bring a comprehensive understanding of wellness to my practice. My therapeutic approach integrates cultural competency, clinical expertise, and holistic wellness principles. Being trilingual (English, Hindi, and Gujarati) and navigating cultural transitions enhance my ability to provide culturally sensitive care. My sleep medicine and healthcare administration background offers unique insights into the mind-body connection and healthcare systems navigation.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Every individual deserves dignity, respect, and culturally competent mental health care. Cultural background and traditions significantly influence mental health and healing processes. Mental, physical, and social well-being are interconnected, with sleep playing a crucial role in overall wellness. Language and cultural understanding should never hinder accessing quality mental health support. Each person has the inherent capacity for growth, healing, and positive change. The therapeutic relationship must balance authenticity with appropriate professional boundaries. Continuous learning and evidence-based practices must be integrated with cultural sensitivity. Mental health care should be accessible and adaptable to meet diverse community needs.
