My Background and Approach

If you find yourself feeling stuck, disconnected from others, or being overly critical of yourself, I can help you get to a place where you feel confident in yourself again and believe in your own worth. I love helping people begin living a life they find meaningful. After a challenging period during high school, I knew I wanted to help others. Early on I had a passion for women's issues and couples' therapy. This passion only continued to grow during my training and I sought experiences specifically in these areas. Through my training and work I have also developed a passion and expertise in trauma work. I had the privilege of starting to see clients in graduate school in 2008 and graduated with my doctoral degree in 2012. I worked for the VA for 5 1/2 years before beginning private practice and 4 1/2 of those years I worked exclusively with trauma. I do my best to keep up with current research and treatments and find being an adjunct professor helpful in this regard.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I believe therapy is best approached as a collaboration between myself and my clients. While many believe it is my job to make decisions for them, my goal is to help empower you to make the decisions that are best for you and your life.
