About My Clients

You hold high expectations for yourself in order to achieve perfection, but you usually manage to feel that you never quite measure up. Fears of failure and judgement lead to the avoidance of new challenges, causing procrastination, and creating a need for control. You may often find yourself overthinking things, wondering about the “what ifs” and the “shoulds” of different scenarios. I can help you to find relief from your anxiety and the inner critic that dictates your life.

My Background and Approach

In my work in helping you, I use a blend of Relational Psychoanalytic Therapy and a Culturally Sensitive approach. I wholeheartedly believe in the power of human connection, and that you can experience healing when you share your story within the safe presence of another. This is the space that I seek to provide you in our sessions so that you can be truly seen and heard, as you are. Within this safe space of therapy, we’ll explore your current hardships as a culturally diverse millennial while connecting to and gaining meaning from your past emotional experiences. We’ll explore how to challenge parts of your story that no longer resonate, and work on developing new chapters and meaning. I am committed to my own continuous process of cultivating cultural humility. I take a collaborative stance in understanding how various parts of your identity are interwoven and how those parts influence your story, your beliefs, and your needs during our work together.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

Being raised by first-generation Persian and Assyrian parents, I have had experiences around my ethnic identity and race. I experienced challenges around navigating individuation within a collectivistic family, and felt confusion and pain while seeking to understanding my beliefs in connection to my identity parts. My personal and professional experiences have strengthened my belief in exploring the various facets of a person and being sensitive to relevant cultural, societal, and individual factors that shape us. I acknowledge that differences inevitably exist between us, and I embrace the fact that I have much to gain in learning about cultural and life experiences outside my own. I believe that you’re the expert of your life story, and I seek to be an attuned listener as we take the journey together towards a place of discovery, healing, and growth. Struggling as a culturally diverse millennial can feel very lonely and painful at times; you don’t have to get through it alone.
