About My Clients
My specializations include PTSD and other trauma-related disorders, depression, anxiety, adjustment-related disorders, relationship distress, grief, life transitions, and minority stress. I have extensive experience working with adults of all ages from diverse backgrounds and cultures, as well as older adolescents and couples. I have special interests in areas related to multiculturalism, the experiences of bi/multi-racial individuals, and working with LGBTQI+ individuals and couples.
My Background and Approach
I utilize an intersectional lens, mindful of each client’s identities and the interactions of such identities, while also considering the systemic and sociocultural factors. I strive to approach each session with humility, empathy, and respect, as well as gratitude to my client for their trust and vulnerability. I received my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a minor in LGBT studies from the University of California, Los Angeles. I received both my Master of Arts and PhD in Clinical Psychology with a concentration in Close Relationships from Stony Brook University. While at Stony Brook, my research focused on adult attachment in romantic relationships, parent-adolescent relationships and attachment styles, and components of sexual orientation and well-being. I completed my clinical internship and post-doctoral trainings at the VA Pacific Islands Healthcare System and National Center for PTSD, Pacific Islands Division, both located in Honolulu, Hawaii.
