About My Clients

My clients are those looking for an affirming space for their LGBTQIA+, polyamorous, open, opening, neurodivergent, or kinky identities who are ready to live a more authentic or congruent life. These identities could be a focus of therapy, but often they are foundational influences on the many other issues of your life. I am here with you in navigating the complex interaction of these identities with stigma, depression, anxiety, communication and relationship issues, burnout, and more.

My Background and Approach

I have worked with clients for over a year through my marriage and family training that makes me particularly attuned to matters of relational problems, including the language and meaning that support them and the larger contexts they exist in. Focused training and clinical research in facilitating client-centered and trauma-informed evidence-based practices with individuals, couples, and families orients me to culturally responsive ways of joining and working with you and your knowledge on your own life and goals. Complementing this is my narrative, queer, and feminist lenses, promoting practice that privileges your expertise over stereotyping and marginalizing cultural practices or understandings. Therapy is a powerful tool for change, and my approach prioritizes your empowerment over that process.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I believe that the structure of our society makes living up to your self-determined potential incredibly difficult, and that oftentimes survival can take precedence over more personal needs for identity and relationships. Surviving such a hostile and exploitative environment can subject people to cultural messages and ways of being that are not congruent with their values. This causes negative experiences that promote anxieties, depression, and hopelessness. Humanity has profoundly powerful adaptive abilities that I believe can be used to exist authentically even within systems of oppression. I am an active LGBTQ+ and polyamorous community member and stand in allyship with all the included identities that I myself don't share. In addition, I am in allyship with cis women and racial minorities in their parallel systemic struggles with discrimination and marginalization. I am queer and feminist, pro-choice, anti-capitalist, and anti-fascist.
