About My Clients
I enjoy working with adolescents and young adults as they embark into adulthood, which can be a challenging yet exciting transition period. I also specialized in working with people who have substance use disorders and addiction issues, as well as codependency issues with their family members. I am also trained in providing therapy for people with anxiety, depression, and various mood disorders.
My Background and Approach
In terms of experience, I am a Licensed Independent Social Worker (LISW-CP), Licensed Addiction Counselor (LAC), Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor (AADC), and Master Addiction Counselor (MAC). I received a Bachelor of Sciences in Psychology degree at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2012, and also received a Masters in Social Work at the University of South Carolina in 2014. I have over 9 years of experience working with adolescents and adults with mental health and substance use disorders, as well as their family members. I utilize the following evidence-based practices with my clients: Motivational Interviewing/Motivational Enhancement Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Aspects of Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Solutions Focused Therapy, Community Reinforcement and Family Training (CRAFT), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), and Aspects of Schema Therapy. I take a client-centered and goal-oriented approach, building on strengths to learn new skills.
