My Background and Approach
I have been practicing as a psychotherapist since 1999 and have developed an expertise in communication skills, empathy and bringing mindful awareness into relationships. I am passionate about helping people understand the logic of their emotions and teaching them how to tolerate these seemingly intolerable feelings. After I obtained my BS from Colgate University, I received my MSW from Catholic University. I studied extensively with the Institute of Contemporary Psychotherapy in Washington, DC – focusing on Self Psychology and its application with individuals and couples. I have been featured on local and international media discussing family and psychological issues and I was a guest therapist on TLC’s “My Strange Addiction.” In addition to providing counseling, I also provide relationship skills classes for dating, engaged and married couples. I am certified to conduct Critical Incident Stress Debriefings (CISD) for companies or agencies who have experienced traumas.
