About My Clients
Although I am adept at offering support to a myriad of clients, I most often work with people struggling with significant trauma, including chronic relational trauma. Consequently, my clients tend to struggle with substance abuse, poor anger management, anxiety, and depression. I fit particularly well with intellectualizers, people with neurodivergence, people pleasers, and those interested in a holistic approach to health.
My Background and Approach
I look at the therapeutic relationship as one of collaboration—counselor and client are working together toward shared goals of client empowerment and authenticity. You are the expert on yourself; I am here simply to reflect what is present, thus demystifying the often-confusing experience of being human. I utilize an eclectic approach to best support the needs of each individual client. While my approach is rooted in Gestalt therapy (which emphasizes authenticity in the present moment), I also employ the use of Polyvagal technique, Emotionally Focused Therapy, Feminist Therapy, and Interpersonal Neurobiology to provide trauma informed care to my clients.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I have been involved in progressive social justice and environmental movements for fifteen years. I believe strongly in intersectional equity among all people, and that radical change is both necessary and possible. As a member of the queer community, I support the rights of those in this community to love and be loved exactly as they are. I support the Black Lives Matter and Land Back movements, as well as prison reform efforts and the demand for immediate climate action. It is my opinion that diversity of people and ideas only enriches the human experience, helping us grow both as individuals and as a collective.
