About My Clients
Have you noticed we often have the same issues coming up time and again even when we thought we figured it out before? I provide support to my clients who are ready for change and together we build upon their previous successes to achieve their goals, develop healthy boundaries, and cultivate self-compassion and self-acceptance.
My Background and Approach
I work hand-in-hand with my clients acting as their guide and support to help them reach their goals. My foundation is based in feminism and anti-racism as we live in and navigate oppressive systems (patriarchy, white supremacy, and capitalism). From there, we build upon the strength and success you already have, whether you can easily see those wins or not! I am rooted in compassion and loving kindness and will encourage you to join me there! In working with anxiety and OCD, I use CBT (cognitive behavioral therapy) and ERP (exposure and response prevention). I am trauma-informed and can also provide EMDR (eye movement desensitization and reprocessing) to all clients, not just those who want to work on trauma. I bring mindfulness to each client, as staying in the present moment can be tricky for all of us! I proudly provide letters for gender affirming surgeries and sit with my trans and gender expansive clients as they navigate the current political climate.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I am ever the optimist. Annoyingly so to some people! This shows up as me giving people grace, celebrating wins, and pointing out the good even in a bad situation. For example, "you went through this terrible thing and because of that you learned ___ and can do ___!" I see people as doing their best with what they have at any given moment. Sometimes we only have bad choices to choose from and sometimes our actions were once adaptive and kept us safe and now they are maladaptive and interfering with our lives. I also believe in the small joys of life. A morning cup of coffee, watching birds, sitting with a pet, and rewatching your favorite show because you know it so well and it's comforting like being wrapped in a blanket on a cold day.
