About My Clients
I am currently seeing people through telehealth (virtual) and masked in-person meetings. I believe each and every one of us matters and is worthy of being seen, known, and supported. Sometimes those things can feel far away or entirely unreachable because being human can be hard, disorienting, overwhelming...and also many other (wonderful) things, too. When these experiences arise, all of us have innate resilience, whether we know it (yet) or not.
My Background and Approach
As a therapist, I have a few theories informing me about what you and I do together. All of them place importance on our therapeutic relationship: creating space for you and me to connect so you can feel truly heard, deeply seen, and supported. I draw from strength-based, narrative, and attachment theories and use the Gottman Method to support my work with couples. I value maintaining a trauma-informed practice and working with cultural-humility. Again, you are the expert on your life.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Hello! I’m Ashley, and I am glad you are here. Like you, I am a fellow human being. I happen to inhabit many identities, one being: an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (120791). My life experience has been enriched and informed by my location as a second-generation Latinx cis-gendered woman. I believe that relationships have the power to harm and to heal. Relationships with ourselves, our loved ones, and social/cultural beliefs influence the stories we tell about our lives, and ultimately the quality of our lives. With this lens, I help people (maybe you) explore relational power dynamics, preferences for living, values, stories, and the identities that inform who you are and who you hope to become. I view counseling as a collaborative process. You show up with the wisdom and expertise of your life, and I show up with the ear of a compassionate witness who asks questions to lead to greater understanding and connection.
