Some reasons people deal with me for 45-60 mins per week: • Your brain is a browser with 38 tabs open. • You overthink everything, including your overthinking. • You never know if you are mad, sad, or just hungry. • You have mastered the art of avoiding your feelings like a pro. • Netflix continuously asks if you are still there…a lot. • You are great at holding it together in public, but as soon as you get home- it’s a wrap. • You hit snooze a million times to negotiate with your bed and your f
My Background and Approach
Using cognitive behavioral therapy, emphasis will be placed on helping you learn to be your own therapists. Through in session interventions/exercises and homework exercises (to be completed between sessions) we will develop coping strategies, to change your own thinking, problematic emotions, and behavior. One of our goals for treatment is to equip you with different tools and techniques that specifically work for you. We will also work to develop access to discreet exercises that can quickly create relief at any time. We'll address what's going on in your brain when you feel anxious and how to get in touch with different parts of your brain to find relief. CBT emphasizes current thoughts, emotions, and behavior. The primary focus is moving forward in time to develop more effective ways of coping with life.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
We'll work collaboratively to study patterns and trends in your thinking and gain/re-gain control over your body and thoughts. We'll discuss and plan what happens to your body when fear takes over (i.e. anxiety or panic attacks) so you can learn how to quickly calm down. Imagine you could effectively manage your stress, anxiety, and depression. How would your life be different? How would your relationships, work life, family, and your overall life experience improve?
