About My Clients
I’ve gained valuable experience through my work with two nonprofit organizations, where I provided trauma-informed support to individuals recovering from sexual assault, human trafficking, and domestic violence. This work deepened my understanding of complex trauma and strengthened my commitment to creating a safe, compassionate space for survivors to process their experiences, rebuild trust, and begin their healing journey.
My Background and Approach
I specialize in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), with training in both the standard protocol and advanced protocols for acute and ongoing stress. Additionally, I am a certified Vinyasa and Kemetic Yoga instructor. I am deeply committed to integrating body-centered approaches in therapy, adopting a client-centered framework that recognizes individuals as the experts of their own experiences and narratives. I emphasize a holistic Mind & Body perspective, acknowledging the profound impact that experiences have on both.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
As a therapist, I’m deeply committed to serving underserved communities by providing access to compassionate, culturally informed care. I believe in the power of psychoeducation—understanding how our past experiences shape the ways we show up today. I integrate the principle of Sankofa into my work, a West African concept meaning “go back and get it.” It teaches us that we must reflect on and reclaim the parts of our past that inform who we are, in order to move forward with purpose and healing. I believe that everyone has the capacity to grow and change at any point in life. Many mental health challenges stem from learned behaviors and survival strategies that no longer serve us—but what is learned can be unlearned and replaced with healthier patterns.
