About My Clients
Are you in a life transition? Want to increase self-compassion/self-esteem? Interested in learning skills in a therapeutic setting? We may be a good fit! My experience in leadership and teaching allows for psychoeducation to build or enhance skills that decrease anxiety and increase mood stability through introspective sessions. Humor and self-reflection are key to evidence-based therapeutic modalities. I often see clients with past trauma who are looking to explore current connections.
My Background and Approach
With over 13 years of teaching clinical classes in MSW and DSW programs and over 25 years in the field, I bring a good amount of expertise in psychology, clinical social work, and client-centered evidence-based practice. I look to each client as the expert in themselves and their narrative. I aim to collaboratively build a safe space to explore patterns of cognitions and actions (behaviors), focusing on building neural pathways that serve the client best. I find I am often discussing aspects of shame, self-esteem, and setting healthy limits with clients. I use multiple clinical modalities such as CBT, DBT, IPT, Psychodynamics, ACT, RO-DBT, BA, REBT, and more. I am deeply invested in client/person-centered work and draw heavily from Relational-Cultural Theory. I also provide life coaching and am working towards adding mediation to my practice, as a trained conflict manager.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I follow the Social Work code of ethics. I am committed to working with individuals to enhance self-understanding and connections. More recently I find I am drawn to conflict resolution theory and find where this work intersects with therapy-based work.
