Identifying as a Dominican, Queer, Cis-woman, Body-Positive, Bruja/Witch and with personal experiences and healing in Anxiety, Depression, PTSD, she is grateful to offer and hold space to individuals who may have relating experiences to her.
My Background and Approach
Ashley began her professional journey as a BFA Photography student at Parsons the New School for Design. At which point she was exploring the relationship between trust, vulnerability, and witnessing through portraiture. During this time, Ashley came to realize her passion for art was driven less for aesthetic/technical success but rather for emotional expression and self revelations through the processes of creation. Her path led her to pursue a MPS in Creative Arts Therapy & Creativity Development, at Pratt Institute. Ashley values the teachings of somatic witnessing through Mindfulness-Based practices. She integrates somatic attention within emotional processing and incorporates Psychodynamic, Gestalt and Jungian Theories within creative processes to promote dimensional means of gaining self-insight and self-acceptance.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Ashley has been invested in incorporating art as means of healing within her personal journey for decades, finding great benefit and importance in witnessing the Self holistically to promote mind, body, spirit connection.
