About My Clients
I work from a whole-person approach which recognizes that many external and internal factors influence mental health and effective treatment must address the relevant factors in each client’s life. None of us exists in isolation, and when working with clients, I address the many external factors that affect mental health, including professional and academic stress, systemic inequalities, social messages and expectations, and romantic, social, and familial relationships.
My Background and Approach
I work with a variety of concerns, including generalized anxiety, social anxiety, panic attacks, phobias, obsessive-compulsive disorder, insomnia, chronic pain management, and depression. Additional areas of expertise are assertiveness/boundary-setting, perfectionism, self-esteem, relationships, and social skills. I am committed to providing high quality and affirming mental health services to clients of diverse backgrounds, identities, and situations.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I view clients as experts of their own lived experience and it is my role to provide support and facilitate growth. Therapy is a highly collaborative process in which we work together to identify existing strengths as well as learn new skills to help you effectively cope with life’s inevitable challenges. Treatment is tailored to each individual client by integrating methodologies that best meet each client’s goals and build upon their personal strengths. I work to help clients cultivate new skills and resources they can use to manage their symptoms and address problems. One of the benefits of therapy is that once these new skills are learned, clients can use them for the rest of their life, long after therapy has ended.
