CBT is at the foundation of the psychoeducation I use with clients. I don't exclusively use CBT, as I prefer to integrate the knowledge it has to apply in my client's unique life experiences. I believe that it helps us to understand how our brain works to then process emotions, experiences, and memories more deeply. I enjoy incorporating other treatment methods into CBT treatment as I think many theories have a lot to offer the people I see every day.

I graduated from UNC Charlotte with a special focus in play therapy, completing school with the play therapy certification. I'm knowledgeable in different forms of play therapy (ex. child centered, integrative, directive) and enjoy using techniques for play therapy that make the most sense for the child's developmental age, interests, and areas for growth. I also enjoy teaching parents these skills learned in play therapy so that the family unit can be successful as well.

I am a DBT foundationally trained professional since 2021, and have practice in working in DBT centered settings. I use the techniques, values, and program as it best fits with my clients as a resource rather than a requirement. I have been teaching and co-leading DBT skills groups since 2021 after my training had been completed and have personally learned the skills to apply into my own life as well.

I have worked with a wide range of anxiety symptoms and diagnoses, whether they stem from specific phobias, trauma, life events, testing, social interactions, and panic attacks. I work with my client's symptoms to help both gaining a greater understanding of themselves as well as coping skills and motivating factors to change the impact anxiety has on their lives. I use both psychoeducation as well as art, processing, and exposure to help clients work WITH their anxiety instead of against it.

Depression looks different for everyone, especially considering how complex each of our lives are. I take into account the whole picture for those who are managing depression, low moods, and the behaviors/thoughts that come alongside this diagnosis. I believe in giving back power to those managing depression, and I incorporate that aspect of finding strength in my work with clients. I am currently on track to become a certified Perinatal Mental Health provider. I have a special interest in pregnancy and postpartum, as my minor in Women/Gender studies capstone research centered on the intersection of mental health and pregnancy in families. This is an area that needs more attention and less stigma. I can assist with grief, loss, trauma, anxiety, depression, and life transitions as it relates to the pregnancy and postpartum period.
