My Background and Approach
Shandelle (she/her) specializes in using cognitive-behavioral therapy and solution-based approaches to help people make lasting changes to their self-image that lead to real changes in their lives. She is also trained in EMDR for the treatment of trauma. Her approach in therapy is hands on, goal-oriented, strengths based, and gender and identity affirming. Shandelle works actively to help clients challenge unrealistic and self-limiting patterns of thinking, deconstruct who they are from who they have learned to be, learn how to feel safe and regulated in their body, cultivate options for difficult life situations that align with their values, and learn the necessary skills to meet their needs. These skills may include assertiveness, boundary setting and reinforcing, effective communication, goal setting, mindfulness, physiological relaxation, and grounding skills.
