About My Clients
I believe that each person has the capacity to change and to heal no matter the hand they have been dealt or what they have experienced. With adults, I have experience supporting those encountering grief/loss, life transitions, trauma symptoms, low self-esteem & loss of identity. Additionally, I have experience addressing individuals struggling with anxiety, depression, mood fluctuations, behavioral difficulties, relational issues, ADHD, and those questioning gender/sexuality.
My Background and Approach
My approach to counseling incorporates trauma-informed cognitive behavioral interventions, contemplative mindful practice and considers the individual within the context of their relationships. I use play and sand tray therapy when working with children and like to bring some of these creative elements into my work with teens and adults, as well. I have additional training regarding disordered eating and Health At Any Size (HAES) and support folks from a holistic perspective encouraging my clients to seek support from medical providers. I respect individuals decision-making regarding their own health journey. I love working with kids, teens, and adults looking to learn more about themselves and overcoming what is perceived to be insurmountable odds. I am committed to offering empathy and meeting each individual right where they are at mentally, emotionally, physically, and spiritually. I believe each of these components contribute to a holistic view of a person and are significant to an individuals understanding of themselves. I believe discovering our values and living in response to our unique values contributes to greater understanding of self and increased mental wellness.
