About My Clients
I think every client deserves to have a safe, empathetic, and nonjudgmental space where they are able to feel empowered and achieve their goals. My ideal client is someone who wants to make positive change, learn new behaviors and thought patterns, as well as healthy coping mechanisms. I know life can be stressful and challenging, and that is why we must take care of our physical AND mental health. I believe we are all capable of change and becoming the best version of ourselves.
My Background and Approach
I am received my Masters degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at North Carolina State University. I am currently trained in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy. I am also interested in utilizing Cognitive Behavioral Therapy as well as Person Centered Therapy with a strengths based perspective. Evidence-based techniques and interventions are so important and I strive to learn more personally and professionally.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I strive to provide culturally competent work in my therapeutic space that honors your culture, values, beliefs, and your individuality. I am always learning and understanding the different barriers to therapy for BIPOC and the LGBTQ+ population and using that knowledge to find ways for therapy to be more accessible. I will work to continue learning about racism, white privilege, white fragility, gender identity, and oppression in our country as well as an additional understanding of how that presents itself in therapy, in the workplace, and in our society. I will continually strive to be better personally and professionally and be a more intentional ally!
