About My Clients
I help folx experiencing intense emotions, ineffective behaviors to cope, and often with painful or traumatic histories that contribute to ongoing distress. This might show up in diagnoses like Borderline Personality Disorder, PTSD, Bipolar Disorder, OCD, depression, and anxiety. Sometimes old patterns of approaching problems aren't working any more and having harmful behaviors like self-harm, suicidality, disordered eating, dissociating, etc. are contributing to more crises.
My Background and Approach
I have my doctorate in Clinical Psychology and have specialized in DBT for my entire career! While Dialectical Behavior Therapy is my main modality, I also see folx who might not need the full program. I often approach symptoms behaviorally, and believe that making effective changes in behavior can lead to better mood, mental health, and quality of life circumstances. I always lead with acceptance and meeting folx where they are, and collaborate on the goals for where folx want to be in recovery. While there is a lot of benefit to talk therapy and connection, I like to have tangible ways of changing and action steps to be able to create new, skillful patterns of behavior and move towards building a life worth living.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I am politically progressive and support human and civil rights. I support LGBTQ+ organizations and my clinic is a safe space for folx in the LQBTQ+ community. Myself and my whole team educate ourselves on and practice antiracism and we all value social justice.
